“ It's not that the Casio Exilim EX-H10 is a bad camera. It's just that for every good thing about it there are a couple issues making it a less attractive option. Those after the most compact 10x zoom with an ultrawide-angle lens should consider the H10. Photo quality is merely average--at least when viewed at full size--so those looking for a pocketable megazoom and photo perfection will likely be let down... ”

“ As you'll see in my Casio Exilim EX-H10 review, there is a lot to like about the Casio EX-H10 digital camera. The EX-H10 is a good looking camera, and its 12.1 megapixels of resolution are great for making large prints. This camera's 10X optical zoom lens -- with its strong wide angle lens capabilities -- is outstanding and is the best feature of the EX-H10... ”

“ The EX-H10's emphasis on fun is clearly geared toward a younger crowd, or to a user base looking for a "beginner's megazoom." Pocket-megazoom shoppers who want full manual controls should look for a different camera. If it's entertaining in-camera features you're looking for, the EX-H10 should be on your list... ”

“ Overall the Casio EX-H10 is a solid performer – mainly due to its 24-240mm (10x optical zoom) lens and long lasting battery life. Beyond this it’s not particularly ground-breaking though and, considering the price point, isn’t necessarily going to have other competitors’ advanced products running scared. Image quality is a bit of a let down too but, saying that, will provide ample quality in good light at lower ISO. There aren’t a huge variety of compacts with a versatile 24-240mm lens – and that, essentially, is the reason to buy the H10. It’s almost there, but just needs one or two tweaks and some advances before it could be deemed as truly great... ”

“ Casio's compact cameras keep getting better and better. The EX-H10 is quite expensive, but it offers the kind of features and image quality that you'd expect for the price. Build quality is excellent, the camera is easy to use and has superb low-light performance. Shooting speed is a little slow though, and the auto white balance is a bit poor... ”

“ I like this little camera, it certainly seems to be pretty versatile and I've always been impressed with the set of features found on Casio compacts. Sure, it suffers from noise maybe a little bit too much and it'll get marked down for that but other areas make up for it and if you use the flash properly, you should be able to avoid having to crank the ISO up.

I'm continuing my current thoughts that Casio are a force to be reckoned with in the compact market and it's only because they've been pretty quiet recently, that they've slipped out of the lime light... ”

“ Shots from the Casio are reasonably sharp and colourful for what is, at its heart, an entry-level snapper, and offer healthily warm flesh tones – which means that white skin is occasionally rendered closer to Tango orange. Also, images more noticeably have a digital look and feel straight out of the camera than certain competitors – occasionally looking like video "grabs".

Such nit-picking aside, there’s no denying the usefulness of a pocket-sized camera which such a relatively big zoom, even if image quality is average for its class. Pricing feels about right, being neither cheap nor inexpensive compared with comparable devices.

So, while for pictures and value, Panasonic and Kodak presently offer better alternatives in the TZ series and Z950 respectively, overall the EX-H10 represents a fair deal for those wanting the creative options presented by a larger zoom but not the weight and bulk that normally goes hand in hand... ”

“ The Casio Exilim EX-H10 is alright. The zoom range is good, the battery life is excellent and it's slim enough to slide into a pocket. But there are other long-zoom compacts out there that are just as good or better. The EX-H10's well-made, but the interface, gadgets, and weak movie and photo quality make it feel cheap... ”

“ Compact enough to take anywhere with a wide-ranging zoom and HD video capture, the Casio H10 really doesn't need any gimmicks to stand out from the crowd. But it has them. Dynamic Photo was fun but not something that will lead to a career, Landscape mode could go back to the drawing board, Make-up mode will endear you to your aging relatives, and there are Best Shot scene modes for just about any situation.

Image quality for this 12.1 megapixel camera was very good in general with accurate color and good contrast. Digitally zoomed shots were the one disappointment, which is also not a surprise. Lens quality is rather good, with reasonable corner sharpness for the focal length range. You have to decide, though, if you want the 24mm wide angle or would rather have a longer telephoto on this 10x lens. We wouldn't call that a disadvantage as much as a choice. Auto White Balance does a decent job with tungsten lighting, and autofocus speed is about average for the long-zoom category. Time between shots is a bit slow, as is flash recycle time. Printed results are impressive up to ISO 400, where they rather abruptly degrade. This, too, is about average performance, with a high grade at the lower ISO settings... ”

“ The Casio EX-H10 is a good travel zoom camera, offering a compelling package of compact dimensions, versatile wide-angle lens, large LCD screen and HD movies, but ultimately it comes up short in several key areas when compared to the Panasonic DMC-TZ7 / TZ6.

The EX-H10 may officially be the slimmest camera in its class, but there's not really that much difference to its main competitors in terms of size or weight in reality. The 24-240mm lens is incredibly versatile, but not quite as much as the TZ7's 12x 25-300mm lens. The LCD screen is appealingly large, but suffers from a rather average resolution of 230,000 dots, while the HD movie mode is hamstrung by a 10 minute time limit, large file sizes, average sound quality and most importantly the inability to use the optical zoom lens during filming.

Image quality is satisfactory rather than outstanding, with noise and loss of detail at relatively slow ISO speeds, limited maximum shutter speed of 4 seconds and a disappointing macro mode. This isn't the camera to buy if you're looking for the best ever image quality, but it does produce well-exposed and accurate photos that will please the majority of its target audience.

Battery life is the main standout highlight, with the Casio EX-H10 easily capable of shooting between 750-1,000 shots on a single charge, depending upon how much in-camera reviewing you do. This is much better than all the H10's rivals, so it's a great choice if you don't have easy access to a power outlet during a prolonged trip away.

But even that wouldn't persuade us to choose the Casio EX-H10 ahead of the Panasonic DMC-TZ7 / TZ6 cameras. Casio's first entry into the ever more competitive travel-zoom segment is a solid offering that won't disappoint, but it can't quite match its main rivals... ”
