“ So what has this camera got going for it? It has some great focusing modes and loads of "do it for you" modes. It also has the quick video button for capturing those candid moments of your friends falling over. You can then torment them using the quick upload to YouTube feature.

Against it has to be the loudest lens motor in recent history and terrible noise which starts at a low ISO setting.

I think this camera could make someone very happy as long as they aren't interested in night time shots and don't mind the noise of the motor. It could be good as a first compact or for a younger family member getting to grips with a camera... ”

“ The Casio Exilim EX-Z100 is a good example of a modern mid-range pocket compact. It is well made and sensibly designed, reasonably well priced, has some useful features and produces very good images under most normal conditions. The 28mm wide angle and 4x zoom range give it greater versatility than previous models, and the exceptional battery duration is a real bonus if you're taking it on holiday. While it doesn't particularly stand out in a crowded market it certainly won't disappoint... ”

“ A rarity for Casio, the Exilim Zoom EX-Z100 is a fairly ugly camera. Still, it packs all the innovative features typical of the Exilim line, and Casio's YouTube software remains a nice inclusion. On other hand, the camera costs considerably more yet produces lower quality images than other Casios we've seen, and it's expensive for a camera with no image stabilization. For the price, better compacts can be found... ”

“ The Exilim EX-Z100 is another success for Casio. Its understated style complements accessible controls and a large screen, while an above-average lens and useful features take care of the business end. Those looking for more manual control might prefer the Samsung L830, while those seeking better low-light performance could go for the Fujifilm FinePix F50fd. But really, we just can't fault Casio these days... ”
