“ The Casio Exilim Z1080 is an underrated bargain, and stands out in the small but competitive field of high-resolution ultra-compacts. It offers excellent build quality, stylish but sensible design, a useful range of features, good performance including class-leading battery duration and excellent low-light focusing, and most importantly very good picture quality, and does it all at a price that comfortably beats its major competitors. If you're considering a Canon IXUS or Nikon S-series, take a look at the Casio Z1080 as well, and possibly save yourself some money... ”

“ The first thing you notice on the $280, 10.1-megapixel EX-Z1080 we tested is its metallic-pink shell and a big sticker touting its YouTube-capture mode--suggesting the camera's target buyer is young and female. If you don't fit that demographic, the camera also comes in blue, black, and silver. Also notable is its 2.6-inch LCD, which fits within a 3.5-inch-wide body. But looks are deceiving. A narrow column on the wide-format screen's left side holds the camera's settings menu, so the viewing area during shooting is more like 2.25 inches. That said, I found the viewfinder exceptionally clear and sharp, even in bright sunlight, making it a pleasure to use. That's important, because the pocket-sized Z1080 does not include an optical viewfinder... ”

“ The Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z1080 is another excellent camera from Casio. Optical image stabilisation is a glaring omission, and the zoom is undistinguished. The Canon Digital IXUS 75 may pack image stabilisation but lacks the features, while another feature-rich camera, the Ricoh Caplio R7 has similar image quality and a better zoom. Nonetheless image quality on the EX-Z1080 is excellent. The attention to detail shows in the wealth of customisable options, giving you the flexibility to take great photos in most circumstances... ”

“ Casio's EX-Z1080 is a great addition to their Exilim Zoom line. With its outstanding performance, easy of use and huge collection of "Best Shot" modes, this is a great choice for anyone considering an ultra-compact consumer camera. With a MSRP of US$279, it is a great value for a 10- megapixel in this category... ”
