“ Despite some speed and connectivity issues, the very affordable Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS will more than satisfy those looking to capture beautiful images without breaking the bank. And its large screen and HD video capture help to make it an even better value. If its more speed you seek, check out the Canon PowerShot A1000 IS, another great value, but one that lacks the HD video capture and large display found on the M1093... ”

“ The EasyShare M1093 IS is a budget camera with one or two surprising features, including HD movie recording. It’s smart, compact and produces pretty good pictures. However, Kodak has missed a trick when it comes to handling, and it seems that style rather than functionality was the main focus... ”

“ The image quality from this model's 10-megapixel fine setting was good for a camera in the sub $200 category. When shooting outdoors, I was able to capture some beautiful images with excellent exposure and vivid colors. The subject in the center of the frame is also nice and crisp, however there was a good amount of edge softness present along the left-hand side of the frame. I also saw a good amount of noise in our outdoor images. Even at settings as low as ISO 80, there is still some speckling from imager noise, which can be seen very easily in areas like the open blue sky. While this was a bit disappointing, don't let this discourage you from looking at this model. These instances can really only be seen when critically viewing an image at 100%. It is very unlikely that you will see anything at all in your typical 4x6-inch or 8x10-inch prints. Like we saw with the M1033, Kodak's "Smart Capture" exposure mode seems to work very well. This intelligent mode was able to accurately determine the type of scene I was shooting, almost instantly, and changed the camera settings to produce the best possible photos. I personally used it to take all of our sample images, with the exception of the M&M photos, which required me to switch to Program mode so I could manually adjust the ISO. I highly recommend you keep this camera in Smart mode for all of you shooting needs.

The Kodak EasyShare M1093 is a nice compact entry-level digicam. While there were a few things that discouraged me, this camera does has the ability to capture pleasing images both indoors and out, and features one of the "smartest" capture modes out there. With an MSRP of $199, I feel this model offers a good value for someone in the market for an inexpensive camera that can fit into their pocket/purse, whether for an adult or a teenager. Be sure to check out our Sample Photos page to see for yourself how well this camera performed... ”

“ The Kodak M1093 IS offers good quality low ISO images that could stretch to a print size of 30 x 40-inches, at a push. It’s easy to use too and has good build quality.

And although the 10-megapixel resolution looks a bit average now 14-megapixels and above seems to be the vogue, it’s more than ample for most needs. If you’re looking for a simple point and shoot that takes good quality (low ISO) images, then the M1093 IS could be the camera for you, though a spare battery might be advisable!... ”

“ The Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS offers a lot of bang for the buck. It's compact and stylish, it has image stabilization, a large LCD, and an HD movie mode. It's also one of the easiest cameras to use that you'll find. Unfortunately, it also has a lot going against it, including mediocre photo and video quality, a weak flash, below average battery life, and more. In the ultra-compact camera world, the EasyShare M1093 is "just okay" -- you can do better.

The EasyShare M1093 is a stylish, ultra-compact made mostly of metal. It's well put together for its price, though I'm never a fan of plastic tripod mounts. Like most cameras in its class, the M1093 is available in multiple colors -- silver, red, and black in this case. While the M1093 has a fairly simple control layout, the lack of direct buttons mean a lot of trips to the menu system, and it can be hard to differentiate between the buttons on the top of the camera, as they all feel the same. The EasyShare M1093 has a run-of-the-mill 3X optical zoom lens, with a focal range of 35 - 105 mm. That's a bit disappointing, as much of the competition has more zoom power, a wider starting point, or both. One nice thing the camera does have is a sensor-shift image stabilization system, which reduces the risk of blurry photos. On the back of the camera you'll find a large 3-inch LCD display with 230,000 pixels. The screen is sharp and bright, though outdoor visibility isn't great (low light viewing is better). There's no optical viewfinder on the M1093, which is normal for a camera with a large LCD. I found the EasyShare M1093's flash to be quite anemic, so indoor shooters beware... ”

“ The Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS is available for a street price of Rs 10,000 and usually comes bundled with a carrying case and a 2 GB SD card.

What The M1093 has going for it are the great looks, build quality and the ease of use but the image capture is just about average and you could easily find a better performance camera in the same price range. Personally, I'd rather go for the Sony CyberShot W120 if I was looking for a good budget ultra compact camera... ”

“ I like the styling and overall performance isn't bad at all for a compact at this price. It has a lot of features hidden away in the program mode and the camera doesn't shout about them. Noise is an obvious concern but if you can get away without going over ISO200, you're laughing.

A new range of cameras from Kodak have recently been released and on the surface they look quite nice. They appear to be targeting the consumer who prefer looks over everything else and want to look good on a night out. The fact that the camera does a pretty good job will only be a bonus to them.

If you're part of that crowd and you're on the look out for a new camera, take a look at this one... ”

“ For a low-priced camera the Koadk EasyShare M1093 IS is surprisingly well made with a decent specification, including an outstanding HD video mode. It is slim and fairly stylish, and can take a pretty good picture under most circumstances, but it is let down by a distinctly non-smart Smart Capture mode, weak flash and poor overall performance... ”

“ The market is full of capable compact cameras, but few of them look as good as the Kodak EasyShare M1093 IS. The slick, brawny styling won't be for everyone, but boys will be happy with the firm lines and ninja-black colour. The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170 and Pentax Optio S12 pack more features in for a comparable price, but neither looks as good to us... ”
