“ The Nikon Coolpix S610c is a decent camera in a small package with a couple of distinguishing features. First is the Wi-Fi system, a definite improvement over some others, but still lacking the web browser that would make it fully functional. At the very least this makes emailing photos relatively straightforward, assuming you can find a participating hotspot. The S610c also has some solid shooting credentials behind it, with very good manual noise and dynamic range scores, and a very fast startup speed. We were much less impressed with the resolution and white balance performance however. This camera is definitely short on manual controls, lacks spot metering, and offers no adjustments at all while shooting video. If you're looking for a simple point-and-shoot that handles well with a nifty additional feature, then maybe this $300 camera is for you. If you like the camera, but don't need the Wi-Fi, you can save $50 by purchasing the sibling model, the S610... ”

“ Stylistically the S610 is fine but nothing special. We liked the matte black colour scheme but it is a little bulkier than some competing compacts, which will sway some users. The controls feel a little loose but the click wheel is nice and responsive and everything is intuitive, making it ideal for novice photographers... ”

“ For the right type of person, this camera is perfect. That person has to enjoy a good looking camera that produces nice colours. That person also needs to have a lot of patience to cope with the lack of responsiveness from the buttons. The wheel won't be a problem though as it's fast and smooth. That person also needs to not want to take pictures in the dark without using flash.
If I just described you then take a serious look at this camera because you won't be displeased... ”

“ With its fast performance and good-looking images, the Nikon Coolpix S610c is a solid choice if you want to share your photos wirelessly and don't mind doing so at 2MP. But if you want full wireless backup of your 10MP images, save yourself 50 bucks by picking up the S610 instead—the same model minus the Wi-Fi—and put the extra money toward an Eye-Fi card... ”

“ While the overall build quality is up to Nikon’s usual high standard, the design of the S610c has a number of niggling flaws that make it a less than satisfying camera to use. It lacks some useful features found on other models in the range, and the performance is nowhere near the claimed level. Picture quality is generally quite good, although image noise control is not as good as the cheaper S560.The Wi-Fi feature does work well, but if you don’t really need that then you’d be better off looking for a cheaper alternative. ... ”
