“ In terms of overall image quality the low ISO shots are very good, white balance control is good but the auto mode can result in an off yellow cast in mixed lighting and providing you keep the optical image stabilisation on and don’t push the sensitivity to more than ISO 800, you’ll not be disappointed. The lens is sharp and surprisingly distortion free: that 28mm wide end providing scope for wide vistas not afforded on similarly-priced competing models with the more usual 35mm wide end of their zooms.
Compact and well specified with a good lens, although the styling is a bit stilted, this camera can take very good shots indeed. Don’t bother with high ISO settings and keep the optical image stabilisation switched on and you’ll get the most from the great little lens and all those pixels... ”

“ The Samsung L310W is available for about Rs. 18,000 with a one-year warranty. For that price, there clearly are much better options available in the market. The Sony T77 or the Canon IXUS 970 IS is a better option if an ultra-compact camera is what you are looking for. If you can live with something bigger, the SX110 IS is also a great choice.
I must add I am truly disappointed in the way the digicam industry is shaping up in India today. I strongly urge them to stop these misleading marketing tactics and focus on giving much better quality for the price that people are paying... ”

“ As with past consumer models from Samsung, we were pleased with the SL310W. This affordable ultra-compact has something for everyone, and offers image quality and shooting performance which equals that of many cameras in its class and beyond. The only issues I had with this camera was the slower than average "normal" burst mode setting and the unusable High ISO settings. That said, with a street price of $180 or less, the Samsung SL310W offers a great deal for such a capable little camera. I would have no problem recommending this camera to anyone who is in the market for a simple to use digicam that can be tucked away into their pocket or purse... ”

“ While the L310W does offer a lot of bragging power for £160, its 13.6-megapixel sensor offers no advantage over cheaper, lower resolution models. Although its build-quality, overall performance and especially its low-light focusing are impressive, and the optional manual exposure is a welcome bonus, it’s hard to recommend the L310W as a useful camera based on its unimpressive image quality. There are better cameras with smaller numbers on them, including many from Samsung. ... ”
