LOVE this camera!

This is my first SLR camera and I LOOOOVE it after only 3 days! It was completely overwhelming to go from my point and shoot to the SLR. However, after only 3 days I am taking pictures that look amazing. Don't think I sat there reading and studying how to use this camera and that's how I became accustom to it because I have two very small children and no time for that. I simply read the get started section and played around with it. I'm not even close to knowing how to use all of the functions yet but the pictures I've taken already are beautiful. I highly recommend this camera to people of all stages of camera knowledge. It has proven worth the money already.

Canon 60D

Having owned every Canon Digital SLR since the original Digital Rebel, the 60D finally offers the flip out and rotatable screen... which I had in my old Olympus Digital with the fixed lense.

That mostly sums up why I bought the camera... I sold my 50D on Amazon soon thereafter.

The 60D is an addition to my Canon 7D, so I have a walkaround Tamron 18-270 on the 60D and my Canon 100-400 on the 7D. I'm ready for just about anything.

Great Camera For Wedding and Glamour Photographers

I've been using dSLR's since 2000, and the 60D is quickly becoming my favorite camera. It has much better image quality than my 40D, and even sharper images than my 5D. In fact, I don't have to use PS actions to "defog" my images anymore. I think this camera is a winner for wedding and glamour photographers because they are relatively inexpensive, you can buy a few and have multiple camera bodies with different lenses. I've shot three or four weddings with this camera already and the images and video are incredible. I'm planning to buy another 60D very soon.

Stop waiting, just buy it.

I was upgrading from a Rebel XT and I hesitated buying this camera for a while because there are so many other cameras. I finally decided I would buy this camera because of the swivel screen and because of its 1080 video capabilities. I haven't even used the video yet and I love this camera! It's really quick. It feels great in my hands... very firm build. It takes great photos. The battery lasts a long time (compared to the XT).

My only criticism is that I'm not comfortable with the scroll wheel and push buttons between. I find myself scrolling when I don't want to and it's kind of annoying. But this doesn't stop me from giving the camera 5 stars. Stop waiting to buy this and buy it. It's awesome!

So far, so good

Love the camera so far. Great price, excellent quality.

My ONLY complaint is that the camera does not auto-focus when you are taking HD video. So when I took test video of my dogs, I had to continuously manually focus the camera as the dogs moved closer to me. It's a pain, but the HD video picture is superb.

No complaints yet

This is a great camera, so far no problems, the images look great (works well with my 'L' lenses), isn't that what its all about in the end. Its light enough to take everywhere yet feels great in the hand. This camera feels solid. As far as the plastic body goes, don't most laptop computers come with plastic bods and I think they are abused way more than a camera. The only specs I really cared about was having faster shutter speed and a higher ISO. I upgraded from a Rebel XT. I still don't understand why people need to always upgrade from one xxD to the newest one, it would save you a lot of money if you upgrade every 6 or 7 or even 10 years.

Little watered down, and canon needs to up their game with sensor design

I have owned many camera bodies, including xti, t2i, 40d, 60d, 7d, 5d and 5dII. I purchased this as a backup for to my 5d2, and for shooting long and some birds. I initially bought a t2i, but found the ergonomics, and buffer poor. I purchased 60D as it shares the same battery as my 5d2, and has much better ergonomics.
What I love: The external flash control, on board flash, general build and ergonomics.
What I dislike, in Order:
1.Sensor efficiency. Nikon has canon beat here. the dynamic range on d7000 is a fair bit superior, esp important if you are doing landscape. Canon needs to improve their sensor production in the next line.
2. Lack of focus microadjustment. Why? it does not cost much to include, and is a very very useful feature.
things that I wish were included but not a deal breaker: extra custom settings, a non locking mode dial.

Canon EOS 60D

I have a Canon 5D, a Canon 7D, and a Canon 50D. I bought the 60D primarily for the rotating LCD which is much handier than a right-angle finder when shooting flowers or ultra wide-angle shots from a low level; it's also very useful when the camera is on the copy stand on my workroom (formerly a dark room) counter. Since it;s lighter than any of my other cameras, I plan to carry it when I travel. I just wish it had the autofocus capabilities of the 7D and 5D, but then I guess if it did, nobody would buy the more expensive models.

A great upgrade from P&S

If you are a P&S person and want to bump up, you will probably be pleased with this camera, "IF", you are willing to learn how to use it. This is not a P&S camera and you will have to take your time and get to know all of the bells and whistles and exactly what each bell and whistle is and does.
Pros will probably find it too slow. It does seem to be very touchy with non-Canon lens. In the reviews it states that the ISO will go as low as 100. However, its lowest is 200.
The weight is also a factor. With a lens it feels like you are carrying a rock around your neck. If you are upgrading and planning on purchasing this camera and you do not own Canon lenses, then don't waste your money on non-IS lenses.
You will pay more up front. But, trust me, you will be far happier in the end when you turn out decent shots. If you already shoot DSLR and are looking at a new camera, go for the 7D and be done with it. The dual digi processor makes a world of difference. Especially if you are shooting fast lenses as I do.

My issue w/ the negative reviews

Most of the negative reviews for the Canon 60D center on image quality that should be blamed on lenses & not the camera body! If you are not happy with the image quality send the camera and lens to Canon USA for tune-up. My 18/200 zoom was not very sharp. When I got it back it was Very Good! By the way, the camera only stores the image. It's the Lens that takes the photo. Better to buy a cheaper camera body and spend the money on a higher end lens like the 17/55 f2.8 zoom rather then the cheap Kit Lenses. There is a good reason the Pro's use the Canon "L" series lenses!

Great Deal for a Canon

Bought this as a second body back-up and now use it more than my primary. If you don't need all of the bells and whistles, weather proofing, this is the perfect camera. In the Canon lineup it lives between the pro equipment and the enthusiast stuff, so for just a great carry camera and all around fun rig, it's terrific. The flip-out screen sold me on this and now that I have it, everything else seems primitive. The one thing I didn't expect to utilize as much as I now do is the built in level in the viewfinder and for low light shooting, it's a must-have. The one big drawback to this camera is the focus on live-view is slow and clumsy, but for what I do (timelapse and night photography), it's rarely an issue. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.
