Despite the usual hype, it's highly likely that the 880 image quality will be no better than the 870...which is fine if the 880 has taken care of the corner softness that marred the 870. That's doubtful too, but we'll have to wait and see. Additionally, I'll be interested to see if the dust bunny issue is as bad on the 880 when using flash.

The SD880 IS is my fourth digital pocket camera. There is so much I like about this camera. The 3 inch screen is beautiful. I don't miss the viewfinder, and they have gotten so small by now. I like the wide angle lens very much as I was always taking a few shots of a scene trying to get it all in, now one does the trick. And if I take a picture of a building or something rectangular the lines don't warp, so they have addressed the barrel distortion well. My last two cameras were the 400 and the 600 and so the 880 I was able to navigate at once in my hands. And finally a battery indicator, although it has 3 lines to indicate charge, once one of the lines
disappears the charge is about to go soon, but better than nothing.

While I understand that it's not the camera it's the photographer, I am frustrated that I rarely get a picture that has a sharp focus. The picture look fantastic on the LCD, but when I upload them to the computer I try and find somewhere that is in focus and usually there is not such a place. I look at my photos from older models, 4 and 6 megapixel cameras, even my first camera, an Olympus 1 megapixel camera, and I am seeing sharper images. The 880 feels great in the hand, operates wonderfully, looks beautiful, great size and build, oh, and the zoom is good too, but I just am getting soft edges, along with noise and blue fringing. I've had this camera for a few months and am glad I purchased a warranty.

If there were another camera out there that seems like it would give me better images I would return my 880, but for now I will keep it and try and live with it and try and work with what it is able to do and try and learn to like pictures that just are not that sharp as I would like them to be.

This is a great little camera because it allows you to have lots of control on how you want to take your photo. You can switch into manual settings and automatic settings, and customize the image you want with multiple features. Its wide angle lens is great for capturing a professional level photo, and the image stabilization feature captures the moment. The screen is a great size for viewing the images. And the battery lasts a long time too. Compared to carrying a big bulky SLR, the sd880is is easy to carry around in your pocket. I have had this camera for two weeks now and I love it. I don't think you could go wrong with this cool little camera.
