When I first saw this camera, it was the answer to some of the minor criticism of my SX110is. That was missing the wide angle and worse photo stitch. The SX200is wide angle is an improvement. Other features I missed from my A710is are now on the SX200is. The picture quality seems fine but, the highest quality is Fine! I only noticed this when comparing file sizes. Canon needs to do a firmware upgrade to get this back. I don't mind large file sizes with less compression.
I purchased this camera from Jacobs for £289.99 with free Canon DCC-85 case and 4gb SDHC card. There is a £40 cashback to the final cost £249.99. That is a good deal. I got a second battery £20 which has the same 1120mAh rating. Other brands are rated lower.
The pop-up flash does get in the way, but it can be held down. The comments from other users about firmware upgrade to stop the flash popping up. It won't work because it is mechanical.
As the camera has a slower lens, i will use my SX110 in lower light situations, telephoto and doing close-ups. Other times like parties, scenic views and situations which may suit the SX200, I would carry that.
I like this Canon with the manual features but another camera the Panasonic TZ6/7 runs it close. I have the TZ6. The SX series are good but not perfect.
I would recommend this camera with a good discount.
