I'll predict 5D II will be under super high demands and might be sold out till the next year.
The quality of video so far look amazing and at 38mb/s (insane rates) The video alone is going to make many indie movie makers buy and try this thing. That in itself is going to create a lot of buzz that would only further fuel the fire.
Canon has said this will be the best looking (noise and image quality) sensor they have produced and we know once the first few set of high iso are out there is going to be huge flurry of buyers.
The combination of video (especially 1080P ) and SLR will bring curious new buyers.
The holiday season and the ability of having a SLR and a 1080P camera in one small package make this a dream gift.
Canon might not be as efficient as they want producing these senors and the components around it and may not initially be able to produce enough units.
Lastly, canon might intentionally under produce this camera (like nintendo and others do) to create more demand.

Dynamic range benefits of 5DMkII?
OK, so having decided that there's no reason for me to upgrade from the 40D to the 5DMkII, I'm now on a mission to justify it! :)
So far, here are the "fors" with respect to the 5DMkII:
* Higher resolution (21MP vs. 15MP on 50D, which I am also considering)
* Better DOF control (FF vs. 1.6x sensor)
* Higher ISO (1 stop over 50D)
* Lower S/N ratio (although, somewhat academic until you hit higher ISOs)
Now, I am wondering whether the 5DMkII will have better DR than the 50D? I mean, is there any substantial reason why the 5DMkII sensor would produce a better range of exposure (related to resolution?) than the 50D?
Both have 14-bit sensors, but the 50D has "gapless" microlenses, and the 5DMkII has "almost gapless" microlenses. I've been doing some reading about the Circle of Confusion, and it occurs to me that the 5DMkII's "almost gapless" design may in fact be (practically speaking) every bit as good as the 50D's "gapless" design when it comes to the final output, save for resolution.
That is, at the same print size, the results should be identical up to a 15MP image (roughly 20"x30", which is large enough for a lot of us), assuming that you apply a 1-stop ISO boost to the 5DmkII image to account for the better ISO performance. In other words, shooting with a 50D should give just as good results (assuming the same glass and conditions) as the 5DMkII, save for a 1-stop better performance in the ISO department.
Of course, this assumes that you don't wish to crop your image beyond the original frame, in which case the 5DmkII has a 25% image area advantage (i.e. you can crop up to 25% more of the image, and the results will be identical in terms of quality).
So ...
Does anyone know whether (academically speaking) there is any good reason to believe that the images coming out of the 5DMkII will have noticeably better DR? To me, this would probably be the "killer benefit" that would get me to pony up - but the difference would need to be *significant*.

I have it since 29 Nov 2008 bought in HongKong. I upgraded from 30D (I hade 2,5 yrs) and have mainly a 24-105mm 4L attached to it. The auto ISO is a big improvement when shooting in public area even at dark. It allows you to take fast a picture gaining the momentum without setting up camera first. High ISO also till 6400 is perfectly usable. Above that it becomes of less use. All depends of course what you want to use it for. New VGA screen works also well. And for me the quick menu is also welcome.
Full frame gives me now the real 24mm I was afraight of loosing the long zoom end on my 24-105mm compared to the crop of the 30D but don't find that a problem and can still attach my 70-300 IS DO zoom to it. Handling is also similar to 30D feels more solid even. It is a bit more robust but better balanced with the heavier lenses. Nice to see so many reviews but sometimes they are just based on feelings and no facts, there are better blogs if you are really interested. I have read many of those and was still uncertain to go for full frame. Well I am glad I did, darken corners (full frame disadvantage) and so are nicely taken care of in body and the amount of megapixels gives me in average a 7 MP jpg so don't be afraid of that.
Movie was not my main reason to buy this camera if 5D MKII would be without I would not have mind. But I have taken some shots and it's nice but you need to prepare upfront really to get a decent movie. UltraII Scandisk is to slow ExtremeIII works well. All my computers Apple and PC's cannot play movie without hickups. So it's really pro stuff that comes out of the camera nice when you really want to catch something, for real film shots you need much preparation.
But over all you will love this Photo camera !
Problems:
Read a story about the movie mode, I can fully agree to this. Although the caption is too negative, the movie mode has limitations however. Go to webiste of ProPhotohome.com ( I cannot enter the link).
The battery door queeks when you press your hand to hold the camera tightly, it sounds cheap, I guess the sealing of the door.
