Small price (265€), small size, good screen, lot's of feature: it's a canon!
Easy of use, it looked to be the best for the best price...but: after 2 weeks of test, it's look to be a bad choice: when using "all auto mode", lot's of pictures are of bad quality: to much blur, no precision. Even with good light... I think the Digic III must be the culprit...or a bad ccd (a Fuji would do the best)
In comparaison, i'm using a PowerShot SII IS for my private use and there's nothing to compare...

Dollar for dollar, the SD1000 is a great camera. It's not the be all camera, just a convenient way to have a camera with you at all times and get great pics. If you're familiar with the Canon layout of controls and features, the learning curve is zero. I really like the "retro" look of it. The control buttons take getting used to; they are flush with the body. I never use the LCD display to take pics so I really appreciate an optical viewfinder.
Problems
No big problems.
The optical viewfinder is rather blurry to me, but I still like having it.
Like all PS cameras, the flash is very limited to short distances. Outdoors this baby does well.
Recommended as a great take along camera, but no way a primary camera. That's the job of a SLR.
