I have only seen and held a preview model (Mark IV). but it specs out great and seems to have addressed all of the problems the Mark III had. So my vote goes to Mark IV!

I've owned Canon 7D camera for just over a week, but I've used it extensively and have tried most of the features, so I feel entitled to expressing an opinion. In one sentence, this is a great stills camera. It's efficient, quick, precise, user-friendly and produces very high quality images, even at high ISO speeds. The contrast between the 7D and the 350D that I had previously owned (and kept) is striking. Canon 7D is the king!!!

The K-7 is nearly idel. It is compact, amazingly well built, fits my hand like a glove and has more features than anyone could possibly want.

It's a pain to have to vote for something that I've never seen (Nikon D3S) but I am a D3 owner and it is revolutionary. I have been an avid photo hobbiest for 30 years. I bought a Mamiya M645 29 years ago trying to improve performance to the point where I could capture what I was seeing. I was never successful. This camera (D3) and the those from Canon and others that perform even close to this well in low light bring us as close as we've ever been to that goal.

The K-x is the best cheap DSLR ever made and that ever will be made. The K-7 is the best pro-quality DSLR. It puts the D3s and all the Nikon junk to shame. Come to any Pentax forum and you'll see I speak the truth.

Isn't this popularity contest sort of list useless. Other than the camera they bought, few on the list have ever seen the others in person. Some are clearly as high as they are due to marketing efforts not performance. Some of these models still have real problems with AF performance, and exposure consistency. I voted for the D3s because it is the only one on the list that is genuinely a bar raiser. Other cameras with the same low light spec on paper have been shown to fail to deliver. In basic camera performance some, while adding features are actually going backwards in real image quality.

You may be think that this consest is useless but for us Pentaxians it is us only chances to win the prises and awardts that we deserf. every thing that pentax produsses beets all the canikon producks. it is onley becuse nikon and cannon pay big $$ to the revew sites that they lie and say pentax is no good. Pentax make cameras for reel photogrphers not snubs!!!

RMABO sounds like quite a fanboy :) anyway i had oportunities to try out several on top of this list including canon 7D and pentax k-7 and i must say that k-7 is the best camera of 2009(at least for my purposes)

There are other cameras out there 'better' than the K-x, but realistically there hasn't been anything remotely comparable in 2009 in the 'bang per buck' stakes, given Pentax's commendable policy of not crippling entry-level cameras by omitting AF motors, spot metering, legacy lens compatibility etc. A huge step from a small player, and I look forward to the response from the big two.
