Nikon Coolpix S6000

" The COOLPIX S6000 offers an effective pixel count of 14.2-million pixels and is equipped with a 7x optical zoom NIKKOR lens that covers a broad range of focal lengths, beginning at the wide-angle 28mm (35mm format equivalent). It is the thinnest camera in its class2 with a depth of approximately 25 mm. In addition to four advanced functions that enable beautiful, blur-free imaging, the COOLPIX S6000 is a high-speed model consistently able to capture the moment. "

High-power zoom lens built into the thinnest body in its class

Four advanced image stabilization features for clear, beautiful, blur-free photos of any scene, from wide-angle to telephoto

  • Lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function:
Offers compensation equivalent to an increase in shutter speed of roughly three stops
  • Less noise in images captured at high sensitivities:
The combination of a new image processing engine that supports high sensitivities and advanced noise reduction processing technology enables superior image quality in images captured at ISO 1600 with automatic ISO sensitivity adjustment and ISO 3200 with manual ISO sensitivity specification
  • Motion detection:
The camera detects camera shake and subject movement with shooting, and automatically compensates by controlling shutter speed and ISO sensitivity
  • New flash control
    -High-sensitivity sync:
With shooting under dim lighting, the camera increases ISO sensitivity rather than opting for slower shutter speeds to allow the image sensor to acquire background lighting for bright, natural photos
    -Wide-area backlighting identification algorithm:
Wide-area automatic backlighting compensation enables beautiful photos of difficult backlit scenes

Superior high-speed response that enables users to preserve those once-in-a-lifetime expressions.

Fast power-up and short shooting time lag enable the high-speed response for which Nikon compact digital cameras are known

Smart portrait mode for consistently beautiful portraits

A series of advanced functions, beginning with the skin softening function that smoothes facial skin tones and continuing with face-priority AF, the smile timer, the blink proof function, the blink warning, and red-eye reduction function, ensure consistently great portraits.

Subject tracking automatically tracks subjects to maintain focus

This function automatically recognizes human faces and then initiates subject tracking to follow the movement of the recognized subject. When a face is not automatically recognized, the target for subject tracking can be manually specified. The camera will automatically track the specified subject as it moves to continuously keep it in focus. Should the specified subject temporarily leave the frame for less than three seconds, the camera will resume tracking it once it re-enters the frame.

Nikon's own compact design and new, thin lens barrel design has resulted in the thinnest body in its class with a 7x optical zoom NIKKOR lens and a depth of approximately 25 mm

The COOLPIX S6000 is the thinnest camera in its class despite a zoom lens that supports a broad shooting range from wide-angle 28mm through telephoto 196mm (both 35mm format equivalent). The slim design is made possible by adopting a structure that restricts lens length at the maximum telephoto position and cutting the outer part of the first lens group that allows the use of a barrier unit that retracts the lens along the optical axis.

Superior high-speed response that enables users to preserve those once-in-a-lifetime expressions.

With a power-up time of approximately 0.75 s and a shooting time lag of roughly 0.3 s*, the camera responds immediately to sudden photo opportunities and moving subjects. The COOLPIX S6000 never misses once-in-a-lifetime shots.
* Power-up speed measured according to CIPA guidelines. Autofocusing time and shooting time lag measured according to Nikon standards: 35mm [135] equivalent focal length of 30mm (S8000)/28mm (S6000), shooting distance of 2 m, ambient brightness of 11 LV, recording to 4-GB Class 10 SDHC memory card.

An elegant body designed for simple operation with a presence

The smooth curve around the lens gives the COOLPIX S6000 a balanced design, and large buttons and controls that are easy to operate have been adopted while preserving the slimness of the camera. Anodizing gives a metal-feel to makes the COOLPIX S6000 body, which will be available in four colors: black, champagne silver, red and brown.

2.7-in., approximately 230k-dot, wide-viewing angle TFT LCD monitor

Adoption of a clear color panel improves visibility for more vivid display of a broader range of colors and greater contrast.
