As we all know by now, the E-30 was announced, and immediately most people decided that the sky is falling and we're all going to die.
Now, here's a little comparison of camera weights (source 100% DPReview):
e-520: 490 g
e-30: 665 g
D90: 703 g
K20D: 800 g
40D: 822 g
50D: 822 g
5DII: 850 g
E-3: 890 g
The 30 is closer to the 520 than the E-3 in weight. One can mount the 40-150 and it will still be ever-so-slightly lighter than the E-3 body alone.
My point here is that if one takes a minute to look past the inflated initial price, this camera is much less of a monster than the E-3. For some the 200 gram difference won't mean anything, but I feel confident in saying that you're probably the minority. For the rest, the greatest or second-greatest shortcoming of the E-3 has been fixed, meaning a significant amount of competitiveness has been added.

Sorry, I think you got some of the numbers wrong. It is confusing, in part because DPReview sometimes quotes numbers with and sometimes without battery. (They intend to list the weight including battery, but sometimes forget)
> e-520: 490 g
> e-30: 665 g
> E-3: 890 g
From the Olympus Asia website (generally the best) [weight excl. batt.
E-520: 475g
E-30: 655g
E-3: 810g
As you can see, the E-30 is now closer in weight to the E-3 than to the E-520. Adding the weight of the battery (~75g) doesn't change much (it makes the relative difference between E-520 and E-30 a little smaller).

This is not a review it is a hands-on, I have been about 3 hours with a friend that works here at Olympus, drinking coffee and talking.
Don't have much to say, but the E-30 felt good in my hands, the size is optimal for me and liked the constuction also, as the sound of the shutter at 5fps.
The AF is good, I fount it fast and accurate.
The metering the same, is good to my taste.
The OVF is good and the LCD the same.
About the sealing, my friend told me to splash it with the mineral water bottle heavily and no problems, I was inspired on this by some e-3 videos I saw.
He let me do it with water, but I could not put the e-30 on the ground and put my weight on it with the feets, I saw this too with a e-3 body on a video.
Anyway the camera looks and feel robust enought.
I liked the ergonomics, and the buttons are well placed.
The few shots I made I looked in is office and look ok for me, but 3 hours with the talking is a short amount of time for taking final conclusions.
Liked the 14-54 II, but I can not compare with the old one, because never used one.
I saw the art filters in action but they are just a few, in my opinion olympus should have done 12 or 18,20... art filters.
The conclusion on this hands-on is that the camera is very good.
For me is Highly Recommended, let's see what Dpreview says.
