However this E420+25mm F2.8 combo is seriously tempting. Only if they crammed the IS into it, I would be really tempted. Kudos to Oly for releasing something that really fulfilled the small camera promise. Oh and I forgot to mention that Olympus released both the lens and the body at very reasonable prices. Together with the pancake 25/2.8, this is just fantastic news for Oly users (and users-to-be). fwiw I was about 1st in line for the 410 and don't have any real regrets with it as my primary vacation/travel camera, been thinking about the 510, and now this ... choices, choices! Date: 2008-04-29 - 11:36:51 Author: MarkusM Rating:    This is a cool little camera I added this camera to my Canon system to have a small camera with SLR features and quality. I loved my small Olympus 35mm film cameras in the past and was excited when I saw the 25mm pancake lens. Until then, I was planning on a Sigma DP1, but the pancake lens combined with the little body sold me on the Olympus. The settings are great and allow for a lot customization in set up. The image quality in bright light is superb. It is far better than the Canon G7 it replaces and equal to my Canon 40D in bright light. Live View is kind of cool. I did not think I would use it, but now I can see some situations where it will be great. This is a cool little camera that will likely become my most used camera. Given the choice of a small camera with good image quality in most situations or a large heavy camera that does better in low light and fast action situations, I prefer the small camera. I am more likely to bring the small camera with me. I am more likely to take photographs that I would have missed with the large camera, because it is likely sitting at home. The E-420 fits this need perfectly. It will not replace my Canon, but it will likely be the first camera that I grab for travel and casual situations. Problems: -The viewfinder is rather small. -The high ISO results are acceptable but not as good as my 40D. -Live View drains the battery quickly. -Focus is not very fast, but a big part of this is likely related to the 14-42mm lens and the 25mm pancake. I suspect that a higher grade lens would focus faster. Date: 2008-06-29 - 11:38:39 Author: Michael Rating:    The E-420 is a very well built little camera which produces clean and sharp results. I think inspite of the small package it fits very good at larger hands (as I can say from my own experience). There are a lot of modes which help the beginner to find the right, perfect usable settings for nearly every situation. The low-light quality is good and also ISO 1600 is definitely usable. That there is no shake reduction inside is a little bit pitty because the Kit-lenses are not made for low light intensity and the Autofocus isn't the best if theres little light. But overall I love this camers and the value you get for your money is one of the best in the market. Sorry if my English isn't the best...I'm from Germany (-;
