Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX07

The new Panasonic DMC-FX07 takes over from its predecessor, the FX01, as the smallest digital camera in the world with a 28mm wide-angle digital zoom lens. The FX07 offers a 28-102mm, 3.6x zoom lens in a stylish and ultra-compact metal body. The Panasonic DMC-FX07 also features a 7 megapixel sensor, 2.5 inch LCD screen, and as with all Panasonic cameras, the company's MEGA O.I.S optical image stabilisation system for shake-free photos.

FEATURES

28mm Wide- Angle* LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens

The 7.2-megapixel LUMIX DMC-FX50/FX07 has a 28mm* wide angle 3.6x optical zoom f/2.8 LEICA DC lens housed in a compact body, achieved thanks to the incorporation of a Extra High Refractive Index Aspherical Lens(EA Lens). This wide angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and sceneries with dynamic width and rich perspective. The lens part comprises of a LEICA DC lens of seven elements in six groups, incorporating four aspherical lenses to generate high optical performance while preserving the compactness of the unit. The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens inherits both its name and its outstanding quality from the LEICA ELMARIT lens, renowned in the film camera world for its superb performance and compact size.

*Converted to 35mm film camera equivalent, at the maximum wide position.

3.6x Optical Zoom with 7.2-Megapixel Resolution

The DMC-FX50/FX07 is equipped with a 3.6x optical zoom lens (equivalent to a 28mm to 102mm zoom on a 35mm film camera). A special function that uses the center part of the CCD also lets you extend the 3.6x zoom ratio to 5.5x at 3-megapixel resolution with minimal deterioration. Adding the Extra Optical Zoom to the 4x digital zoom*** extend the total zooming power to a maximum of 21.9x. With this powerful zooming function, you can easily capture and magnify distant subjects.

*In the U.S.A. market, the Extra Optical Zoom is called the Extended Optical Zoom.
**At 3-megapixel resolution.
***As digital magnification increases, resolution significantly decreases.

Intelligent Image Stabilizer

To fight against the major cause of blurred images, Panasonic invented the MEGA O.I.S. system taking advantage of its outstanding lens technology to compensate for handshake – a feature which has long been incorporated into the LUMIX range of cameras. In addition, the DMC-FX50/FX07 also compensates for the other major cause of blurred images – movement of the subject. The world's first* Intelligent ISO Control (I.I.C.) function, made possible by the Venus Engine III, detects the subject's movement and adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed to best suit the subject movement and the light condition automatically. The Venus Engine III also enables high-sensitivity recording up to ISO 1250 in full resolution manually. Panasonic's excellent image stabilizing system allows users to take clear, crisp images in any situation automatically, leaving everything to the camera.

MEGA O.I.S. - The New Standard in Digital Camera Performance

Taking advantage of its outstanding lens technology, Panasonic invented the MEGA O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer) system to fight against the major cause of blurred images. It compensates for the blurring caused by hand-shake. It is now featured on the entire LUMIX range, and is highly popular with users around the world. Even slight hand-shake movement is accurately detected by a sampling frequency of 4,000 times per second, and compensated to produce sharp, clear images. .

High Image Quality - Recording up to ISO 1250 in Full Resolution

The DMC-FX50/FX07 adopts the Venus Engine III to realize high sensitivity recording at max. ISO 1250 at full resolution. The noise reduction system is greatly improved by removing noise at the processing stages in series. First, critical noise is roughly undraped and the chromatic noise and the luminance noise are separated to respectively go through the supplemental noise reduction process so that the remaining noise is appropriately minimized.

Faster AF

The various AF mode can be selected according to the shooting environment and the position of the subject. In the 1-point normal speed AF, the AF time is reduced by one third of the time compared to the DMC-FX01, to provide a quick and smooth AF without screen-freeze.

Selection of 3 Aspect Ratios

The aspect ratio is easily selectable between 16:9* wide, 3:2** and conventional 4:3 to shoot in the framing aspect that best suits the subjects' composition or the image's purpose of use. You can shoot images in the wide 16:9 format*. Then insert the recorded SD/SDHC Memory Card into a TV equipped with an SD/SDHC card slot to view them in perfect, wide-screen size. Some TVs will display the image in stunning high definition.
