I have used this camera one month. And it has worked very well. It is wonderful generally. K10d has all what you need in a camera. Wish I would have gotten that before.

This is my second DSLR

This is my second DSLR after the Pentax *ist D.

With weather sealing, Shake Reduction and Dust removal included, the K10D is an exceptional value for money camera.

Shake reduction works brilliantly giving at least 3 extra stops of handholdability.

WB is a bit niggly, but that is easily correctable in post process.

I'm not someone who suffers too badly from brand loyalty and if a manufacturer produces a product worth looking at I'll happily look at it. I have a number of Canons and they are ALL superb 350D, 20D, S2 IS, and most recently the fantastic G7. I've had Panasonic's FZ20 and FZ5, Still have a Sony R1, and also have the brilliant little Kodak V610, totally surprised myself with that one.

Image Stabilization has become something that matters to me and my first move into Pentax D-SLRs was the K100D which unlike the K110D had this feature, I bought it, and loved it. Colour rendition was very appealing and it had something of that Pentax feel I remembered in the K1000 many years ago.

Then came this camera, the K10D. Like so many people I waited eagerly for this camera finally to arrive in the UK and in December, I got mine, ( boxed with a K100D manual but that's since been fixed ) and have been playing with it like a child with a favourite toy since. I'm using it mainly with the little snub nose 40mm F2.8, and it's a tremendous combination. Considering a few years ago I entered into the digital SLR market with the Canon 300D at just under £1000.00 at the time, the price tag attached to this, with it's huge array of features. outstanding build quality, and just sheer pleasure as an object, shows just how far things have come in a very short time, If I could give more stars for value for money I would happily do so.

In conclusion I'm delighted to be a K10D owner, the wait was well worth it and the camera is a joy to have and use.

Update:

Have now sold the Canons, the Sony and the Kodak mentioned above. This is now my only D-SLR and it continues to impress me more and more.

Problems:

The only reason I've given 4.5 for ease of use is just ISO accessibility, and it's hardly difficult, but, the Canon G7 has an ISO dial on top of the camera, for me that's where ISO access should be on all cameras.

After pentax released the new firmware 1.10, I have to say the features, ease of use and value of money are excellent 5.0. The weather proof body, very useful and effective Shake reduction system are amazing for me. Probably when you use jpg at natural mode, it gives film like edge not like the usual digital sharp edge image, but you can choose bright mode or RAW mode, the results are pretty good and on par with any other 10MP DSLR.

After 10 months and about 6300 shots

I am still very pleased with my K10D. Meanwhile Canon and Nikon have announced their next generation prosumer DSLRs but I don't feel any necessity to even take a closer look.

K10D ist very reliable, robust and delivers - thats a koller criteria for me - sharp and clean results. Adjusting WB is a joy and so is shifting ISO and aperture by wheels.

The menue offers heaps of functions. Everything is logical and the handling is excellent and a real fun.

Antishake works exeptionally well and allows even blue hour exposures at lowest ISO without blurr.

No need to use a tripod.

I never had any dust on sensor headaches since I use the K10D - a problem with my Canon DSLRs that almost drove me crazy.

It is a pitty and a shame that Pentax wasn't able to keep promise with the new lenses but Sigma, Tokina & Co. offer quality substitutes at very reasonable prices - so no real loss. If I look at the RSP today which are below 700 EUR I really consider to buy a second K10D body.

The Pentax K-10D is the best D-SLR I have ever used!
Everything about is is GREAT! It is definitely a "pro spec" camera it has "pro spec" control and it delivers "pro spec" images. Thank you Pentax for making such a PERFECT camera.

Note: it may sound like a loving rant, but i am completely serious with everything i have stated.

Very pleased with my Pentax K10D

I am so very pleased with my purchase of the Pentax K10D and a Sigma 17-70mm lens. I just could not be happier. I have been a film photographer for 30+ years and mainly had to give it up due to eyesight and trouble focusing. The AF with the Pentax and Sigma is great even in fairly low light conditions indoors (just need some contrast).

I started with digital only 1 year ago and have a Canon G7 which I love as a take anywhere camera. All this is coming from a 30 year Nikon guy (Nikon FM3a, 24mm, 35mm, 55mm micro, 105mm and 200mm ... all beautiful primes). I haven't looked back as I am so pleased with the photos from this Pentax. Before I bought it I researched Nikon D80, D200, Canon 30D, XTi, and Sony A100. Handled them all and read all I could find. Spoke with numerous sales people as well. Clear choice was the Pentax K10D for all the features, value and performance.

I thought the menus and features on the Canon G7 were slick and well laid out. Pentax is even better! A joy to use. Read the manual twice and I don't think I'll need to go back to it ... that straightforward (for me anyways).

Results for me are stunning with the Sigma. I am using JPEGs right out of the camera after using some of the settings recommended on the forum. Beautiful results and prints. Comments from family and friends say best they have seen even compared to Fuji Reala film.

Gave 5's right across the board as I am that pleased and I rate things conservatively. Thanks Pentax and keep up the good work!

Great upgrade from the DS. It wasn't love at the first sight, mainly because of it's weight and I wondered whether I really needed all these features (Normally all I need is Av, center-weighted metering and center AF). But now the features I Iove most are SR, the second wheel set up for ISO and the Li-Ion Battery which you can really rely 100% upon (I always had trouble with the batteries with the DS).

After six months of use

I find the K10D to be an excellent camera with lots of useful features. The viewfinder is large and bright enough to use for manual focus, which I use a lot for macros. The controls come to hand nicely, especially with the BG2 grip. Pentaxes hyperprogram is worth the price alone. Image quality is on a par with cameras of a higher price point.

One reason I bought it was to use in dusty and damp environments, where it has excelled.
