What's great about it: easy to navigate the menu, accurate color, wide angle, features galore
What's not so great: some pics not quite as detailed as they could be, fingerprints
I was looking for a very portable ultra compact that takes good pictures. I read the reviews of the Canon sd780, and I liked the looks and features of the Samsung tl220; so I bought them both! (I am comparing them, and I will take back the one that loses the contest.)
After taking and printing several pictures of both, it is close to a tie. There were a few pictures of the Canon that stood out, and a few of the Samsung also. Most pictures were dead even, The Canon showing slightly more detail in some, while the Samsung seemed to have better color. (I used auto and program scenes for both.)
I was leaning towards the Canon because of the detail and then I took shots indoors at night. I discovered that was the Canon\'s achilles heal. There was no comparison between the two cameras; the Samsung blew the Canon away. (That is hard for me to say because I have a Canon a710 that I love dearly.)
The indoor night shots are compounded because of the wide angle lense, touch screen, more zoom, panorama, stitch assist, beauty shots, and a whole host of features that sent me over the edge to the Samsung. Still, if it weren\'t for the indoor night shots I probably would have stuck with the Canon.
In conclusion, I could live with either of these cameras, because I have the 710 to fall back on. I feel the extra features on the Samsung make it a pretty versatile "pocket rocket."
