It would be nice if all the specifications with the H50 meet our expectations once the camera is released. I jumped right in and pre-ordered the H9 and I was a little disappointed, but I'll be waiting until the H50 gets a few reviews out before I purchased one. I'm wondering if Sony made any changes in the remote control. For the H50, it's listed as a Remote Commander. It would be great if they switched it from IR to RC. It would be nice to have remote control of the camera from any angle. Probably another wishful thought! :)

The H9's remote worked from about 4-5 feet behind it, which was good enough for my needs, but I would like to see a greater range as I'm sure it would be useful for a lot of users.

From Sonystyle's website (US):
Variable Noise Reduction (NR Level Setting)
To allow greater control over NR, three NR Level Settings are available -- High, Low and Standard — allowing you to select the optimal setting depending on the scene and individual tastes. For example, applying high NR helps obtain smoothly textured images for portraits or dark scenes, while the low setting is helps reduce noise without sacrificing resolution, making it especially useful for landscapes, detailed subjects, and contoured surfaces.
Based on the above, if we choose the lowest NR setting, the camera will not sacrifice resolution (Image Quality).
Which means... from their comment: "...the low setting is helps reduce noise without sacrificing resolution, making it especially useful for landscapes, detailed subjects, and contoured surfaces."
The problem that people have been experiencing with the H9 is smearing of llandscape (grass and sometimes leaves) and of contoured surfaces, such as a person's face or nose. Hopefully we will now get our IQ back by choosing "LOW".
This is promising and disheartening. Promising that we now have this control to get back our image quality, disheartening that aggressive NR through the camera may degrade picture quality.
So maybe this is also where the JPG FINE/STANDARD comes into play. Choose the low NR option and that's most likely the JPG Fine.
I am curious about the Alpha Series and how choosing the NR level affects the image quality of their pictures. Any comments?

Best for money
WOW - Without doubt the best extended zoom camera for the money available in the market at the present time. The competitors either have poor, although longer zoom lenses with aberration problem (Olympus, Fuji, Nikon - 8/10) or their image quality is not upto the par (Panasonic - 8.5/10). The features of this camera are well thought of, handling is superb, the Carl Zeiss lens is sharp along the entire 15X range, 3 inch angulated, clear and bright LCD is best of the bunch, flash is powerful, focus is fast and accurate under various conditions, and the pictures are stunning even at default setting - all in a light package at an impressive price. A winner all the way (9.5/10) - what else one can ask for?
Problems
This is not a DSLR, so don't expect it to perform like one. However, even a DSLR doesn't have a powered megazoom, auto focus in live view with shutter release button and light compact body like an extended zoom camera.
Loose lens cap (it may be meant to prevent damage to the lens if you accidently switch on the camera with the cap still on, unlike H5 which had a 'cap on' warning). Expensive proprietary accessaries.
