For a start, dpreview has done quite a good preview this time. Just some points that I thought some of us here might want to know but don't know where to find the answers:
1. Intelligent Preview - I'm a fan of DRO. At least now I know what DRO is doing to my images. You can see the histogram shifts as you change DRO settings.
2. For HDR people - There is now a +-2 EV for bracketing (3 shots).
3. Viewfinder - See to believe. Enough said.
4. AF micro adjustment - +-20. Can store up to 30 non-repeatable lenses. Yeah!
5. Built - Very very well constructed, as mentioned before. The texture and feel of A900 in the hand is very different from A700.
6. NR off - The setting to do it is actually the High ISO NR setting. Turn that off, and both High ISO NR and normal NR are off. Could have been better named or existed as a separate setting as some people may get confused initially.
7. CF/MS - Couldn't transfer between the two, but at least I can now change one to the other in the Quick Navi unlike the A700.
8. Interval shooting - There's also interval shooting function using the bundled Remote Capture software.

I purchased the Sony A900 with higher then normal expectations. However, I was somewhat disappointed with the final output from this camera. Under ideal lighting conditions, the A900 will definitely produce beautiful photos however, under challenging lightning conditions, I was disappointed with the level of noise and the lack of shadow detail from the images. The photos viewed at 100% crop looked a bit mushy for my liking. I found that... based on per-pixel detail, the original Canon 5D produced sharper photos. I do fully understand that there is more to, then just sharpness when comparing various camera systems. Regardless, at 50% crop in Photoshop the photos did look very impressive. The colors and dynamic range is very good. I do like the feel of the camera with the optional grip attached, in my hands. It has a very solid feel to it. In my opinion, Sony should have concentrated on developing a high quality full-frame sensor between 14 and 16 mega-pixels as opposed to a relatively mediocre 24 mega-pixel system. Don’t get me wrong, I think that the A900, overall is a very competent system and represents good dollar value. If you are not presently committed to any particular system, the Sony A900 is a good choice. Unfortunately, the A900 didn't fill my specific needs. I returned the Sony and opted for the new Canon 5D Mark2.
