Canon U.S.A. Displays Full Line Of Input To Output Devices At The 2011 Wedding & Portrait Photographer International Convention

CanonLAS VEGAS, February 18, 2011 –Helping to elevate the art of wedding and portrait photography, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, will showcase various imaging products at this year's Wedding & Portrait Photographer International (WPPI) Convention at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at the Canon Booth (#401).

On display will be the new imagePROGRAF iPF6300S large format printer, the award-winning EOS DSLR camera line, professional video camcorders and PIXMA Pro-series inkjet printers in addition to live demonstrations of various professional product solutions designed for specialty applications. With the Company's complete line of image-capture equipment, Canon looks to provide end-to-end solutions, helping wedding and portrait photographers produce high-quality prints for clients to cherish and relive those magical moments.

“As professionals adopt new digital technologies into their workflow, such as HD video,we see an increase in the demand for high-quality, input to output solutions in the wedding and portrait photography market,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Imaging Technologies and Communications Group, Canon U.S.A. “Thanks to a wide array of photo-imaging solutions, it is now easier to generate beautiful, emotionally-compelling images and footage both the bride and groom will appreciate.”

Canon imagePROGRAF Large Format Printers

Helping to reproduce that perfect portrait, the new 24-inch Canon imagePROGRAF iPF6300S large format printer provides wedding and portrait photographers with an affordable, 8-color option for printing high-quality images in a shorter amount of time than Canon's 12-color, imagePROGRAF line up. From the vivid colors of the bride's bouquet to the neutral grays in a monochrome image of a couple's walk down the aisle, the printer's new 8-Color LUCIA EX ink system helps deliver wide color gamut and achieves excellent shadow detail, deep black density and amazing scratch resistance. The printer boasts improved speed over previous models, producing 24” x 36” documents in roughly 35 seconds in a single pass economy mode and full quality photographs in approximately four minutes. This new imagePROGRAF printer also includes a Plug-In for Adobe Photoshop, providing further support for the proofing and 64-bit printing environment. If a photographer is looking for even greater color gamut, the award-winning, 44-inch imagePROGRAF iPF8300 and 24-inch imagePROGRAF iPF6350 would be the quintessential choices. For an enhanced color spectrum and wider color gamut, both printers feature a 12-Color LUCIA EX pigment ink set, producing expressive and crisp blacks, smooth color gradations, and the capability to reproduce the finest details in the shadow areas of photographs.

Canon EOS Digital SLR Cameras

With the capability to capture the glow and mood of a couple's wedding, the Canon EOS models on display will provide new opportunities to shoot beautiful and captivating still images, as well as Full HD video, making it possible to deliver the ultimate in image quality and versatility. The EOS-1D Mark IV is equipped with a 45-Point Autofocus system, fast 10 frames-per-second (fps) continuous shooting, 16-megapixel resolution and outstanding low-light imaging and focus sensitivity. The amazing EOS 5D Mark II has a large Full Frame CMOS image sensor and a DIGIC 4 Imaging Processor, producing stunning color and fine high-definition detail. The advanced EOS 7D features Dual DIGIC 4 Image Processors, advanced 19-Point Autofocus system and a large APS-C–sized CMOS sensor. Featuring 18-megapixel resolution, the EOS 60D features a three-inch Vari-Angle Clear View LCD screen and in-camera Creative Filters to manipulate images after taking them.

Canon High Definition Professional Camcorders

Where high image quality, extreme portability and efficient workflow are of the utmost importance, the Canon high definition professional camcorders are the ideal choices. The Canon XF305 and XF300 professional HD camcorders include a Genuine Canon 18x HD L-series lens, three Canon developed and manufactured native 1920 x 1080 CMOS image sensors and the new Canon XF Codec for extreme color detail. The Canon XF105 and XF100 utilize the Canon XF Codec, in-camera features enabling the easy set-up and capture of high-definition 3-D video when two XF105 or XF100 camcorders are pairedto Canon's built-in infrared low-light feature, permits the capture of HD video in complete darkness. The newly announced, ultra-compact Canon XA10 professional camcorder uses an AVCHD codec and features a 10x Genuine Canon HD Video Lens with a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 30.4mm – 304mm with an eight-blade iris, a Canon DIGIC DV III Image Processor and Canon's 1/3 inch native 1920 x 1080 image sensor. The XA10 also features a detachable handle which, when attached, further enhances the camcorder's functionality by providing infrared shooting, XLR inputs and an external microphone holder.

PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II and Pro9000 Mark II Photo Printers

The Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Photo Printer features 10 pigment-based ink colors - photo black, matte black and gray as well as cyan, magenta, yellow, photo cyan, photo magenta, red and green - allowing users the benefit of a wide color gamut for stunning color prints, as well as three levels of black for true black-and-white photographs. Designed for the pro and amateur fine-art photographers, the printer provides outstanding resolution and droplet control utilizing Canon's double-encoder system to produce gallery-quality prints. The eight-color dye-based PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II Photo Printer's impressive quality and speed are the result of the Canon FINE print head technology coupled with a high-performance, high-density 6,144-nozzle print head, which is capable of producing nearly invisible ink droplets of two-picoliters.

(Electronics) Customer review from the Amazon Vineâ„¢ Program () Pros: Effortless set up, even for WiFi Excellent print and phaotgrophic quality High quality scanning Faster than older Canon inkjet printers Slick interface/modern design Buffed up Canon software Front loading paper tray Excellent customer support (see addendum) Cons: Memory card reader on WiFi works for Windows but not for Mac Slow wireless upload' from printer Shiny exterior picks up fingerprints Completely redesigned ink cartridges means that you are stuck with expensive, proprietary ones, at least for the time being No continuous document feed Long install time for proprietary software Canon software is much better, but still a little slow and clunky The PIXMA MG6120 is one of Cannon's newest line of printers. It is long on features and really is an excellent, all around printer for home use. It was easy to set up using the supplied CD and worked without a hitch on WiFi immediately on set up. The text printing on normal paper is excellent and the phaotgrophic reproduction is nearly photo-lab comparable. Note: I am using the printer on an Apple iMac with a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (for the truly savvy, this is a 17 MA590LL/A, late 2007 model). I am running OS X 10.6.4 on the Mac side and Windows 7 home edition on Bootcamp. The printer that I am comparing this model to, is my old Canon MX310[], bought from Amazon circa 2007. WHAT'S IN THE BOX: The printer is packaged with a quick start up guide, network trouble shooting guide, a starter pack of 6 ink cartridges, power cord, paper for print head alignment, and sample pack of 4 X 6 Canon Plus Glossy II photo paper. Extricating the printer from its box was par for the course, with the usual removal of protective wrapping and unsticking of orange tape. The printer itself weighs in at 20 lbs, so it is somewhat more hefty than it looks and it is by no means petite at 18.6 x 14.5 x 6.9 inches. It sports a small view screen and innovative touch panel that functioned smoothly. It has a pleasing, modern design, and a glossy finish that really looks cool at first, but is a real magnet for fingerprints. SET UP: You hardly need a manual to tell you what to do, as the printer really tells you what to do itself once you turn it on. The carriage centers as you open the device and placing the print head in place is easy. The ink cartridges are color coded and fit in place easily. There is a thick, black cartridge that can only fit in one space, but the color cartridges are otherwise identical. They will fit into each other's slots, but there is a guide on the print head that makes placement a no brainer. As each cartridge is equipped with its own microchip, my guess is that the printer would inform you of any errors in placement. (Not wanting to mess up the color printing for the first runs, I stuck with the program and didn't let the machine prime the ink tanks while placed in the wrong slots.) Once closed, the machine quickly cleans the print heads and then prompts you to place the phaotgrophic paper in the back loading slot for print head alignment. A few minutes later, this is done. Plain paper can then be loaded in the front cassette or in the rear loading slot, and you're off to the races. WARNING!: A word about the ink tanks these are a brand new style. This means that it will be some time before refurbished or third party cartridges are available for use. Although brand new Canon ink cartridges are likely to function the best, other options do significantly decrease the price per page and not everyone needs 100% full quality prints or an archival photo that will not fade in `300 years.' You can get an idea of ink prices here: ; . Note that at the time that I am writing this there is no value pack that covers all of the MG6120 inks together. Unlike other Canon photo printers you will need the PGI-225 black and FOUR CLI-226 cartridges (C,M,Y, and GRAY). At present prices, refilling the ink tanks twice would cost about as much as buying a brand new MG6120 at Amazon's sale price. (To my knowledge, no 3rd party refill kits or refurbished cartridges are available at this time.)
