Olympus has announced a firmware update (version 1.2) for the E-500 (EVOLT) Four Thirds Sytem DSLR. The changes are a new menu function for exchanging the AEL/AFL and One-touch WB buttons, and an improvement in the exposure level of the built-in flash when using certain lenses.

Sony unveils the 8 Gigabyte version of its Compact Vault series. The new drive is compatible with Compact Flash type II slots, and provides a significant increase in data storage over the current top of the line, the 5GB version. The new Compact Vault drive is an ideal companion to high-end digital cameras, the new drive's 8GB capacity holds up to 2,560 JPEG images (at 3MB each) or 320 minutes of MPEG4 video, and has transfer speeds of up to 12MB per second. The Compact Vault will be available in June with a price of $259...

Fuji has issued a Service Advisory for a problem that may arise if you use your FinePix S3 Pro/S2 Pro with the Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor ED 18-200 mm f/3.5-5.6G lens. When the zoom is set to the wide-angle position, if you attempt to focus using AF (Auto Focus) when the distance scale is set to infinity (∞), the camera may very occasionally fail to focus on close- up subjects.

The Eastman Kodak Company has reaffirmed their presence in the digital photography world, with three of their offerings been recognized for ‘Design Excellence' at the CeBIT 2006 show. The three products to be recognized and adjudged by the coveted iF Design Awards include Kodak Direct view DR7500 System, Kodak EasyShare P850 and P880 Digital Cameras. The iF design exhibition is renowned for showcasing different innovative and novel products and this time there were 2000 products submitted by almost 37 countries.

CeBIT 2006: Not to be outdone by MemoryStick Panasonic has today ensured that its chosen storage format, Secure Digital card, can at least match the capacity offered in other fomats. There is a catch though, Secure Digital was never designed for capacities over 1 GB, that was solved but then addressing anything over 2 GB became the next problem. To solve this the SD Association have proposed SDHC, essentially the same physical format as SD but only compatible with SDHC devices (such as the new Panasonic DMC-L1). So it's good news and bad news.

Casio getting ready for the spring with the launch of colorful models of the Exilim EX-600 and EX-Z60 . The Z600 is available in matt black and blue, the Z60 is also available in back and in red. The main differences between these cameras are the size, the LCD and the price. The EX-Z600 is a little smaller and lighter and comes, in spite of that, with an extra large 2.7-inch Super Bright LCD. You'll get the Z600 for around 300 dollars and the Z60 for 50 dollars less...

Nikon Canada Inc. has today lowered the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) on the Nikon D50 digital SLR body only and the Nikon D50 kit with the Nikon AF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G zoom lens. The price has also been reduced on the Nikon D70s digital SLR body only and the Nikon D70s digital SLR kit with the Nikon AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED zoom lens.
